If someone is from South India or those who are used to authentic idlis better stay away from this item. It has very shallow cavities making the idlis very thin, again the distance between two plates are very less making it stick to the plate on the top. Again one major drawback is, the design is such that the plates are so unstable it slides on its sides when start pouring the dough on cavities one after another, have to hold the plate while pouring it else one will end up in a mess of pilfering dough around the corners. Overall disappointed on this purchase, design and model. Hope the manufactures listen to customer feedback!

Very small, cheap and flimsy product. It came with one handle broken. The lid topper broke on the second use.

Perfect for Making Traditional Puttu!
I’m really impressed with the Pigeon Stainless Steel Puttu Maker. The quality of the stainless steel is top-notch, and it feels very durable. I love that it works on both induction and gas stoves, making it super versatile. The stainless steel steamer plate and rod make the cooking process easy and ensure the puttu is steamed perfectly every time. It’s also toxin-free, so I feel safe using it. If you love traditional South Indian dishes like puttu, this is a must-have! Excellent price, and good quality!

Perfect size, good material, worth the money. My only concern is that one side handle is broken and there’s no screw to fix it. But I’ll get it fixed.

The Puttu Maker has been a great addition to my kitchen. The high-grade stainless steel gives it a solid feel, and the design is very practical. The puttu comes out soft and well-steamed thanks to the steamer plate and rod. I appreciate that it can be used on both induction and gas stoves, making it convenient for any kitchen setup. The only improvement I’d suggest is making the base a little heavier for extra stability, but overall, it’s a fantastic product for making authentic puttu. Also must say, I am a big fan of Pigeon products, their pricing is so right!

The steel vessel gauge is too thin. Bottom becomes uneven due to induction heat. The idli mild plates are also too thin and are very wobbly unable too bear the weight of the dough! Steam leaks all around the lid and keeps pushing the lid up. Lid steel handle too hot to touch, need cloth or glove to handle!
Advice/decision: Pay a little more and buy better quality.

I am extremely disappointed with this idli maker. From the start, it felt like it was made of cheap, flimsy materials, and that turned out to be true. After just four months of moderate use, it completely broke down. One of the handles cracked, and the trays started bending under the heat, making them almost impossible to fit properly.
I would not recommend this product to anyone. It’s just not worth the money for such poor quality and frustrating experience. Save yourself the hassle and invest in a better option.
