Prestige PIC 2.0 V2 2000-Watt Induction Cooktop Review: A Technician’s Perspective

Prestige PIC 2.0 V2 2000-Watt Induction Cooktop

As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.

In our 20 years of manufacturing and repairing induction cooktops under the Privilege brand, we’ve seen countless appliances hit our service center benches. When a 2000-watt induction cooktop fails, it usually isn’t because of the heating coil—it’s almost always the motherboard frying due to voltage spikes or the internal sensors failing to prevent overheating.

When you push 2000 watts of power to boil water or fry puris in an Indian kitchen, the internal components are under immense stress. That’s why we were eager to look under the hood of the Prestige PIC 2.0 V2 2000-Watt Induction Cooktop.

Prestige has packed this model with several “invisible” internal protections that most consumers overlook, but that make a world of difference to an appliance repair technician. Here is our completely unbiased, data-driven breakdown of why this radiant black cooktop is built to survive the rigors of daily Indian cooking.

The “PrivilegeTail” Technical Breakdown: What Makes the PIC 2.0 V2 Different?

1. Inbuilt Automatic Voltage Regulator (The Motherboard Saver)

If there is one feature we champion above all others in the Indian market, it is an Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR). Indian power grids are notorious for sudden voltage fluctuations. In standard cooktops, a sudden spike will blow the internal fuse or instantly short the IGBT (Insulated-Gate Bipolar Transistor). The Prestige PIC 2.0 V2’s inbuilt AVR not only absorbs these voltage variances but ensures that the electrical load is applied to the appliance gradually. From a repair standpoint, this feature alone doubles the expected lifespan of the cooktop.

2. Dual Heat Sensors & Dynamic Power Saving

Overheating is the silent killer of induction coils. This model features integrated dual heat sensors that actively monitor the temperature of your vessel. Instead of just blindly pushing 2000 watts of continuous power, the Power Saver Technology dynamically adjusts the heat level based on the base diameter and temperature of the pot you are using. This prevents the internal coil from running beyond its permissible safety band, preventing thermal degradation while saving significantly on your monthly electricity bill.

3. Anti-Magnetic Wall Technology

Induction cooking relies on electromagnetic fields. In cheaper models, this magnetic radiation can leak from the sides, sometimes interfering with nearby electronic appliances or causing inefficiencies. Prestige has integrated an anti-magnetic wall into the PIC 2.0 V2, ensuring the electromagnetic energy is directed strictly upward into your stainless steel or cast-iron cookware, resulting in faster heating and zero wasted energy.

4. Usability Engineered for the Indian Kitchen

While the internal guts impress us, the external interface is incredibly practical:

  • Indian Menu Options: The feather-touch panel features preset buttons calibrated specifically for Indian staples like chapati, dosa, idli, and curries, removing the guesswork from temperature control.

  • Anti-Skid Steel Ring: A simple but vital safety feature. Heavy cast iron pans or smooth stainless steel pots can slide on a sleek glass surface. The anti-skid ring keeps your cookware firmly anchored during vigorous stirring.

  • Child Lock Feature: With a touch panel this responsive, accidental activation is a real risk. The integrated child lock completely disables the interface, making it perfectly safe in homes with curious toddlers.

The PrivilegeTail Verdict

If you are looking for a primary cooking appliance rather than just a backup stove, you need power and protection. At 2000 watts, the Prestige PIC 2.0 V2 offers the rapid heating necessary for heavy-duty cooking. But more importantly, it backs up that high power with the Automatic Voltage Regulator and Dual Heat Sensors needed to prevent the appliance from destroying itself over time.

The sleek radiant black finish and feather-touch buttons look fantastic on a modern countertop, but it’s the rugged internal engineering that earns this cooktop our seal of approval. It is a highly efficient, durably built machine perfectly suited to handle the heavy demands of Indian cooking.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Prestige 2000-watt induction consume a lot of electricity?

No, it is highly energy-efficient. It features intelligent power-saver technology and dual heat sensors that actively monitor the temperature and size of your vessel. The cooktop dynamically adjusts the power level so you only use the exact amount of electricity needed for that specific pot.

What does the automatic voltage regulator do on this Prestige induction?

The inbuilt automatic voltage regulator protects the cooktop’s delicate internal motherboard from sudden power spikes. It gradually absorbs voltage fluctuations, which is an essential feature for preventing long-term damage in homes with unstable power grids.

What kind of utensils work on the Prestige PIC 2.0 V2?

You must use induction-compatible cookware that has a flat, magnetic base. This includes stainless steel pots, cast iron skillets, and induction-base pressure cookers with a bottom diameter measuring between 12 and 26 centimeters.

Can I use this Prestige induction for heavy Indian cooking?

Yes, it is perfectly suited for heavy Indian cooking. With a powerful 2000-watt heating coil and specific Indian menu preset buttons, it easily handles high-heat, sustained cooking tasks like making dosas, boiling curries, or deep-frying without overheating.

How does the child lock work on the Prestige cooktop?

The child lock safely freezes the feather-touch control panel. Once you activate it, it completely prevents young children from accidentally turning the stove on, or unintentionally changing your temperature settings while you step away from the kitchen counter.

How do I clean the glass top of my Prestige induction stove?

You can easily clean the smooth radiant black glass by wiping it down with a soft, damp microfiber cloth once the surface has completely cooled. You should never use abrasive steel scrubbers or harsh chemical cleaners, as they can scratch the surface and damage the touch sensors.

I have been using Prestige PIC 2.0 since 2011. It’s the best induction cooker ever launched in India. Recently I decided to buy a new one as a backup to the one I am already using, should a need for repair or service arise. The natural choice was the new avatar of PIC 2.0 – the Prestige PIC 2.0 V2. Prestige has added a few more presets and a dual heat sensor. Overall, it is the same old design – the same look, feel and finish. Both the versions are such marvelous and efficient devices.

I will give an illustration to explain it’s efficiency in utilization of energy. I tested boiling a steel pot full of water on a gas stove once every day. It consumed a full cylinder of LPG in two months, i.e., Rs.945 for 60 days. Boiling the same pot full of water on PIC 2.0 V2 consumed 0.5 unit of power/day, i.e., 30 units of power for 60 days or Rs. 150 for the same period. An astounding savings of Rs. 795 in two months! We can readily see that, in this case, it takes only eight months to redeem the cost of buying the induction cooker when compared to the savings in LPG consumption. In actual practice, in a household that uses LPG for the entire cooking, it takes only 4-5 months to get back the money paid for the induction cooker. Prior to switching to induction cooking, in our house, we needed a cylinder of LPG every 35 days. Now we do all our cooking on PIC 2.0/PIC 2.0 V2 and have to change the LPG cylinder only once in 15 months. LPG is used only in the event of a power failure. Even after adjusting for the increase in power bills, the average savings for us on LPG for a 15 months period is around Ten Thousand Rupees.

It is an extraordinarily wonderful product. Five stars.

Don’t trust the brand they are pathetic, the product is not working plus the service even though under warranty they won’t come and check or service it. The worst customer service I could even experience. They are just fooling customers. I can never buy electronics online now cos I have lost my trust.
